Every once in a while you get a client that just comes out the blue to request an engagement session and that’s what just happened basically this past Sunday at Branch Brook Park where the cherry blossoms were in full effect!
We have John & Graciela here today. It was Graciela’s friend who actually found me. From where I don’t know. I know, I have to get better where some people find me. But nonetheless Graciela took her friends advice to hire me for a session….
They haven’t hired me nor do I know if they would as I never like to assume things but these shoots are perfect because first impressions count and it actually puts the photographer to the test. Photography is subjective of course, what one likes the other may not. So going into this shoot it was just bare bones. Just meet the client and shoot!
Usually I have my meetings with my clients and clients already have a great feel of what I’m able to do and naturally I would assume they like my style if they are actually meeting me. So this shoot today was a blind photography date! Graciela basically wanted a shoot that showcased the pretty cherry blossoms, so you do what your client asks for….. incorporate cherry blossoms to the way I’m able to see light….
Of course the session wasn’t all Cherry blossoms as they are the stars of the show…. As we headed to different locations of the park, John basically gave me the cliff notes on how they met. They actually went to the same high school but were a year or two a part but years later they met at a social scene and like any other guy would do if interested in a pretty lady, you ask for her contact info!
Well things didn’t go smoothly as they were supposed meet for brunch but the busy life got in the way and they lost touch for a bit. Well one day John was visiting a friend, opens up a year book of the same high school they all went to and he happens to see Graciela in the year book. I guess seeing her made him wonder about her since she left a good impression on him…. Well he reaches out to her one more time….and now 5 years later they’re tying the knot……
